Gary W. Teran is the President & CEO of First Western Advisors, a dually registered B/D and Federally Registered RIA. First Western Advisors was originally founded in 1982 as an "Independent" Broker Dealer. FWA currently serves over 5,000 accounts and is registered in different capacities in approximately 40 states. Mr. Teran has had personal responsibility in managing hundreds of millions of dollars during his nearly 28 year career.

Mr. Teran is one of three original founding members of the Frances W. Burton Foundation and continues to serve on its Board. The FWB Foundation has been dedicated and focused on supporting many charitable organizations, especially those that serve victims of cancer, protection of children, and smaller charities who receive little support or fanfare.

He is also the current President and co-founder (2008) of the Utah Securities Association, whose mission includes investor protection and education, supporting economic development as well as assisting with responsible legislation where possible. Ultimately, its purpose is a strong and responsible securities industry in the State of Utah. The Association is currently participating in the inaugural "Fraud College" event to be held at Utah Valley University on June 1st, 2010.

As a securities industry professional since 1982, Mr. Teran holds several licenses covering multiple business lines which include, Series 65 (Registered Investment Advisor), Series 7 (Registered Securities Representative), Series 63 (USASLE), Series 24 (General Securities Principal), Series 4 (Registered Options Principal), Series 52 (Municipal Securities Principal).

Prior to entering the Securities Industry, Mr. Teran worked as a Financial Analyst for a Fortune 200 company. During this period, Mr. Teran prepared for and passed the entire CPA exam in his first sitting.

His educational training includes his receiving a graduate degree (Masters of Business Administration) from the University of Utah as well as a BS in Finance. While attending the U, he received many honors including, Magna Cum Laude (1974-1977), Phi Kappa Phi University Honor Society, Beta Gamma Sigma-College of Business Honor Society and Phi Eta Sigma-Freshman Honor Society. While at the University, he received multiple scholarships for Finance, Leadership, and Athletics (Golf). As a driven student and high achiever Mr. Teran completed his undergraduate course work in 3 years.

Mr. Teran currently resides in Utah with his wife (Lisa) of 33 years. They have 5 children and 3 grandchildren. He enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, service through his religious affiliation, he a history buff and a Black Belt in Muso Kai Okinawan Style Karate.
